Federal Express Corp (FedEx), a US-based express transportation company, has launched a new logistics facility in Manchester, UK.
The 3,530sqm facility features advanced technologies, including an automated sorting system and X-ray machines, which increase throughput, speed, and efficiency. Additionally, it also offers a more modern working environment for team members.
The new facility relocates FedEx鈥檚 Manchester operations, enhancing its capabilities in the Northwest. Located near the Manchester Airport, it reinforces the company鈥檚 commitment to advancing the UK鈥檚 air cargo infrastructure. Furthermore, it aims to assist businesses in both domestic and international trade through strengthened parcel and freight capabilities.
It has been strategically positioned in the Northwest corridor, a region that accounts for 22.5 per cent of the UK鈥檚 total freight Gross Domestic Product (GDP). The new site capitalises on FedEx鈥檚 earlier expansion at its cargo facility at in the UK.
Steve Johnson, managing director of UK Air Operations, described the opening of the new Manchester facility as a significant milestone for FedEx.
